So here we are again – Big Push 2011.

This year we have a new addition to the Big Push stalwarts in the form of Converse Skateboarding, who will join teams from Vans, DC, Shiner, adidas, NikeSB and Etnies and take to the roads of the UK in search of terrain new and old. We have made some major changes this year, by firstly getting rid of the idea of specific areas all together, leaving each team free to travel and skate any part of the UK that they wish and secondly, by switching up the challenges so that they count for more of each team’s eventual score.

Your votes will still count towards the eventual placings but to avoid repeated complaints about proxy voting we’ve decided that this year the challenges will count towards 70% of the eventual score, rather than the 50% of last year’s, so put simply, the more challenges each team completes, the more chance they have of bagging themselves the increased prize purse of £3000.

This year’s challenges are a little different too: using materials supplied by us (angle iron and no-more-nails) each team must make an unskateable spot skateable and then film some tricks on it, again using materials supplied by us. Each team must shoot a photo involving fire and lastly, and perhaps most interestingly, each team is tasked with recreating a photo of one of the first 100 Sidewalk covers with 85% accuracy. These new challenges will run alongside the traditional Mad Hatter’s list of ten stupid tricks and points for NBD tricks at landmark skatespots.

The Big Push DVD, a 60-minute DVD featuring all seven team’s finished edits, will be cover-mounted on the October issue of Sidewalk, due out in shops on or around the 21st of October.

All the Big Push edits will be available here from the same day to allow those who haven’t seen the magazine to get involved in bigging up their favourite crew of shoe humans. Online voting will close on November 14th so don’t hang about. Now go and slag each other off on the Sidewalk forum…

Additionally each team will have daily blogs here on Mpora updating the skate nation on their progress as the road trip destruction extravaganza unfolds.

The winning team will be determined through a combination of points garnered for completion of tasks and online voting on the Big Push micro site. Good luck and godspeed!
